Welcome to the fantastic world of Chevalier’s Books, Los Angeles’s oldest independent bookstore. An iconic cornerstone of Larchmont Village in Hancock park, Chevalier’s was founded in the 1940s by book maverick Joe Chevalier. As a general trade bookstore we take great pride in our curation and are confident there is a book for everyone. We bolster a staff with many different interests that gives us a rich diversity in the books we stock.​We believe in the independent bookstore as a foundation of community and encourage reading, intellectual conversation, curiosity, and books as the best form of entertainment. We host author events to both support writers and bring writers and readers together. We strive always to make these events fulfilling for both writer and reader.
