We exist to passionately pursue LIFE in Jesus and to lead our neighbors to do the same.
History
Established in 1971.
Life Bible Fellowship Church began as a home Bible study in 1971 during the “Jesus Movement” sweeping through Southern California. Our founding pastor was Ray Schmautz, former linebacker for the Oakland Raiders. Due to Ray’s hectic schedule as a seminary student, we weren’t able to meet until 10 o’clock at night, and would often go till 1 in the morning. But people kept coming to this small Bible study, and soon it wasn’t very small. We had to relocate to a larger facility–a refurbished chicken coupe at the Houtz Egg Ranch in Alta Loma. We eventually moved again to Sweeten Hall, a condemned school building. We purchased our current property in 1978, which had initially served as a retreat center for Hollywood socialites. We worshiped for many years in the lodge (now the Garage), and then built our worship center in 1997. Our story continues to unfold! We currently hold three weekend worship services and many more classes and studies every week.
