History
Established in 1985.

The original Avid Reader was founded in 1985 in Davis California. It continues to operate at its Second Street location in Davis. It expanded to Sacramento some twenty years ago originally on L Street. In April 2007, it took over a Tower Books location on Broadway across from the Tower Theater when Tower Books went bankrupt. In 2017, The Avid Reader moved a few blocks down the street to our current location at 1945 Broadway.
