Profile
United Christian Academy is an accredited, college preparatory school located in Rancho Cucamonga. We serve over 850 students in grades K-12. Our mission is “to educate students by integrating academic excellence with a Christian worldview, equipping them to impact their world for Christ.” UC Academy is an independent, non-denominational Christian school. Parents and students are not required to be Christians to attend the school; however, they must be supportive of the school’s mission, philosophy, and doctrinal position. A major emphasis of our academic program is to prepare students for college. UC Academy is dually accredited with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Christian Schools International. Our high school courses are approved by the University of California and the California State College systems.
History
Established in 1978.
UC Academy was established in 1978 as a ministry of Upland First Church of the Nazarene, operating under the name “Ninth Street Christian School” and later as “Upland Christian Schools.” The school was originally located in Upland, California. In 2008, the Nazarene Church wanted to merge UC Academy with another school to form a large school district. Many in the school community believed that such a merger would cause UC to lose many of the strengths and distinct characteristics that make the school so special. Led by a group of dedicated parents, the school connected with Abundant Living Family Church (ALFC). ALFC graciously agreed to host the school on their new 30-acre campus in Rancho Cucamonga, California. With 350 students, the school re-constituted as an independent Christian school and began operating as “Upland Christian Academy” in 2009. In 2017, the school changed its name to “United Christian Academy” (aka “UC Academy”/”UCA”) to better identify with our new community.
