Profile
As a STEM-focused private school serving preschool through 8th grade students, we bridge 21st century skills with 1st century faith. Our mission is to educate, equip, and empower our students and school community through excellence in Christ-centered education, to the glory of God. In 2015, we became one of the first schools in California–public or private–to teach computer coding to every student in preschool through middle school. We are one of only 11 schools in the nation to collaborate with the Quest Institute for Quality Education, Microsoft®, Lego Education®, and NASA to send three different student robotic engineering experiments to space. All of this is accomplished in an atmosphere of belief in Jesus Christ that aims to be reminiscent of Jesus-followers who had a 1st century faith that was both unshakable and unstoppable. We are not just a school you attend. We are a family we belong to.
History
Established in 1980.
In March of 1980, the Brethren in Christ Church in Alta Loma developed a multipurpose building designed for church worship and a Christian preschool program. In March the building was completed, the church moved in, and “Little People Preschool” was born with thirty-eight children ready to be loved and nurtured. Additional classes and grade levels were gradually added in proceeding years, and by 1992 the school offered instruction through 6th grade. The Elementary portion was renamed and introduced to the community as “Alta Loma Christian School” while the preschool portion of the school remained “Little People & Co.” In fall 2000, 8th grade was added to complete the new Middle School Program, and the school was joined together under one name, “Alta Loma Christian School” (ALCS). Today, ALCS is fully accredited by WASC and ACSI at the elementary and middle school levels, and remains committed to training our students with 21st century skills and a 1st century faith.
