It all started in 1954 when Jay Mittel Jr. opened up the first Mittel’s Art & Frame Center in Santa Monica. We’ve made our new home here in Venice since then, but one thing has remained the same through the years: our commitment to supporting your creative endeavors from inception to completion. Chris and John, Jay’s sons, are in charge of the shop today. They still do things the old-school way — custom framing by hand with a meticulous attention to detail and an above-and-beyond type of approach (feel free to call Mittel’s the Buzz Lightyear of framing). Mittel’s Art & Frame Center is a retail art supply store and custom frame shop that opened for business in 1954 in Santa Monica, California. It was founded by Joseph “Jay” C. Mittel Jr. and is currently run by his sons, Chris & John, both of whom have a lifetime experience selling art supplies and crafting custom frames.
