History
Established in 1956.

Edwin “Bud” and Mary Lytton began our business in their garage. Starting out with repairs only, Bud began to go door to door to find customers with sewing machine problems. Soon after that, he started to sell machines as well. In 1958, Bud and Mary opened our first store on Euclid Street in Anaheim. Using Mary’s initials, they named the store Mel’s. Soon after, in 1960, they became a BERNINA dealer. Mel’s has been a dealer ever since and is proud to carry the world’s best household sewing machine. And, in the year 2000, our current 2nd generation owner, Perry, brought in the Baby Lock brand machines. To this day, BERNINA and Baby Lock are the main attraction in our stores. Over the years, we have opened a couple stores and relocated others. Currently, we have two locations, Anaheim and Tustin. With the help of 3rd generation owners PJ and Brian Lytton, and the continued guidance of Mary, Mel’s has continued to provide quality products and excellent customer service.
