In July of 1961, Trinity Lutheran Church was formally organized. Sixty-four people gathered in a dance studio on July 26, 1959 to celebrate the first Lutheran worship in Simi Valley. Sunday school was conducted with 16 children in attendance.
The Pacific Southwest District’s Mission Board of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod appointed the first Pastor; Reverend Edward Halverson. Pastor along with six families, formerly the Canoga Park Lutheran Church, organized the new church.
In October of the same year, the Mission Board helped the young congregation purchased five acres of a lemon grove at the corner of Alamo and Reservoir Streets in Simi Valley.
