We are an independent, non-denominational Christian church in Upland, California serving the Inland Empire, where spiritually uninvolved, unconvinced and unconnected can discover at their own pace who God is and what He can do for their lives. We are simply here to connect people with God and with each other We don’t claim to have a corner on the market when it comes to good churches, but we do feel we are distinctively different from other churches you might visit in the Inland Empire area. We believe “church” is much more than a religious gathering on Sundays. At Reliance Community Church, we know that life is all about relationship…with Jesus, each other, and the world around us. If you are looking for a church family that cares about developing new relationships, or if you are a committed Christ-follower who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, we may be a good choice for you!

History
Established in 2008.

Reliance began on July 19, 2008 with our first public gathering, a prayer meeting at our home in Chino. A small group of people felt led to partner in the planting of a church in the Inland Empire, ultimately landing in the City of Upland. Our dream was to be a church where everyone felt welcomed and wanted, where people discovered something real, relevant and refreshing, and where people felt at home, all barriers removed, a comfortable place to discover God’s best for our lives. We continue to strive to be that church. The vision of Reliance is to build a community of Loving, Forgiving, and caring believers who share their hope with each other and who are committed to serving God by serving others

Joel P.

Business Owner

Joel Pagett is the lead Pastor of Reliance Community Church in Upland, California, a church that began in his home, in 2008. He is a graduate in Theology from Eastern Bible College in Peterborough, Canada and has over 25 years of experience serving as a Pastor in Michigan, Iowa, Pennsylvania and California. He also has served as a chaplain for the police and fire departments and is an occasional guest speaker at retreats for faith-based organizations.

Pastor Joel is passionate about developing a relationship with God and His people. He says relationship building is imperative in order to grow spiritually and is faithful to modeling this walk daily. More than anything, he is devoted to teaching people God’s word and how to experience the success God desires for us to have in our lives. Although it is easy to get off track, his goal is to provide a practical way for us to return in order to achieve a hope filled life.
