History
Established in 1955.
The grounds of Camp Alta began as a summer camp in 1949 after several parcels of land in the portion of Placer County, known as the township of Alta, were purchased and developed as a camp. This land was sponsored by an association of Southern Baptist Churches in the Sacramento, California area. During the first few years the camp’s property was rented from the Girl Scouts of the USA. A little over six years later, in 1955, Camp Alta as we know it today was incorporated. For over fifty-five years Camp Alta has had the pleasure of serving hundreds of thousands of church groups from all over Northern California, by hosting camps and retreats year round. It has truly become a setting where God is present in both creation and people.
