History
Established in 1981.

In the early 70s, Bob Gerner (Company Founder) started peddling his home-made granola. That early business morphed into a brick and mortar business called Gilman Gourmet on Gilman street in Berkeley. In 1981, he re-created the location as a specialty grocery store selling natural food products. In 1987, he opened the El Cerrito location. In 2002, Bob transitioned the company to employee ownership (ESOP model). And in 2014, we opened our third storefront: The Prepared Food Annex.
